An iconic symbol of the South of Thailand, the long-tail boat is a strange wooden-made contraption powered by loud automobile engine mounted on a rotating turret in back. The engine drives a propeller at the end of a long pole (tail), which is used to both steer and power the craft. Long-tail boats are used to taxi people & goods between Thailand’s many islands.
