Mountains are the beginning and the end of all natural scenery - John Ruskin. In the days when wars and ethnic conflicts ruled the mountains of North Africa, legend has it that when battles dragged on, tribal leaders would gather in a sacred place to draw up a pact of peace. They had to travel over 600m of steep terrain, crossing aerial walkways, to get to the top of Tamga Imsfrane, home of the sacred ritual. Also called “Cathedral Rock” for its shape, this sedimentary rock located near the Gorges of Assif Melloul has become a world renowned spot for base-jumpers.
